Publishing

Underwater Samurai Studios is the digital comic publishing arm of UWS Publishing LLC.  We distribute our books through several digital channels including iTunes, Kindle, and the web. While we will compile completed story arcs into trade editions, we do not print monthly floppy comics. If you are looking to create a monthly print comic book, you should look elsewhere.

As we are digital, we provide services and support beyond what is usual for a print publisher. Here are some of the ways we support our creators:

Publicity and Promotion. We will publicize your book heavily. Our methods include, but are not limited to: paid advertising spots, press releases, forum announcements, Facebook Pages and other social networking methods, Arrangements for Interviews, submission of your work for reviewers, promotion on our sites, Web 2.0 efforts (Digg, Stumbleupon, Del.ici.ous, etc), SEO optimization, Comic Conventions, your local newspaper, and our in-app purchase features. It is your job to create a great comic, it is our job to sell it.

Website creation, renovation, support and management. We will completely rebuild your site in line with your tastes and in accordance with our standards and method. If it has a unique domain name, that may carry over depending on it’s SEO qualities. If you are on a free hosting site, a new domain name will be created for the site.

Digital Publishing. Your comic will be published digitally on the web and for download to mobile devices. The creator (or creators if you are a team), will be paid on a royalty basis. We will discuss our exact royalty percentage with a creator only after acceptance, but it is substantial. If you have a back catalog in standard page format that you wish to have digitally published, we will reformat and re-letter it to ensure the best transfer of the art and reading experience.

Print Publishing. We will compile completed story arcs into trade paperback and collector’s hardcover editions. Books will be reformatted and re-lettered as appropriate to allow for the best presentation of the material.

Merchandise. We will create a complete line of merchandise for each title. We welcome any merchandise ideas you may have. We will manage the storefront and it’s methods in its entirety — you don’t have to worry about a thing. Each creator will receive a percentage of their site’s merchandise revenue.

Advertising. Advertising, both paid and affiliate, will be brokered and managed by USS. Each accepted creator will be given a questionnaire on their interests, hobbies, passions and methods in order for us to best tailor the advertising we place to their individual tendencies. If you aren’t behind it, we won’t use it. Each creator will receive a percentage of their site’s advertising revenue.

Movie/Television/Animation/Games. With your concurrence, we will aggressively pursue alternative media options for your title.
